Chicago: Meeting of Central Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church for North and South America
The Central Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church for North and South America meets in Chicago. At the liturgical gathering at the Cathedral church of the Resurrection of Christ the monastic name day of Metropolitan Amfilohije was also remembered.
His Eminence Amfilohije, Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral as well as administrator of the Diocese of Buenos Aires and South-Central American, on his monastic name-day, the feast day of Saint Amphilochius of Iconium, officiated Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral church of the Resurrection of Christ in Chicago.
The Serbian Chanting Society “Branko Radicevic” sang responses during the Liturgy. On behalf of the brotherhood of the Cathedral church, protopriest Darko Spasojevic, principal of the church, greeted Metropolitan Amfilohije.
Following the Liturgy, the Metropolitan participated in the meeting of the Central Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church for North and South America, held at the hall near the Cathedral church. During the break between two sessions Bishop Mitrophan of East America consecrated the cake in honor of the feast-day of Saint Amphilochius of Iconium, and on behalf of the present Bishops, Longin and New Gracanica and Maxim of Western America as well as members of the Central Council, expressed best wishes on the occasion of Metropolitan’s patron saint.
