Metropolis of Mexico: Two Colombian Bishops were ordained

The Episcopal ordinations of two Colombian clergymen were performed by Metropolitan Athenagoras of Mexico and Exarch of Central America.

Specifically, on Sunday, October 25, Bishop Athenagoras of Myrina (Saul Alfonso Perez Galvis) was ordained. The ordination took place at the Holy Temple of Hagia Sophia in Mexico City. The Metropolitans of Mexico Diocese Ignatius (Patriarchate of Antioch) and Elias of Philomelion (Ecumenical Patriarchate) took part.

On Sunday, November 8, Bishop Timotheos of Assos (Louis Antonio Torres Esquivel) was ordained. The ordination took place at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Bogota, Colombia. Archbishop Alejo of Mexico (OCA Church) and Bishop Athenagoras of Mexico (Ecumenical Patriarchate) took part.

Both ordinations were attended by many clergymen, representatives of the local authorities and many faithful, a few inside the Holy Temple, due to the pandemic, but thousands through the internet.

The two new High Priests will serve as Auxiliary Bishops of the Holy Metropolis of Mexico and Central America (20 States) under the inspired guidance of Metropolitan Athenagoras.

It should be noted that they are the first Colombian Bishops in the history of the Orthodox Church.
