Consecration of Archimandrite Jovan for Bishop of Hum

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch officiated the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy and the solem rite of consecration of Very Reverend Archimadnrite Jovan (Stanojevic) in the rank of Bishop of Hum, Vicar Bishop of Dusseldorf and Germany in the Cathedral church of Saint Sava in Belgrade on 10 October 2021.

His Holiness Porfirije, the Serbian Patriarch, officiated the solemn rite of the proclamation of Very Reverend Archimandrite Jovan (Stanojevic) for Bishop of Hum, Vicar of Bishop of Dusseldorf and Germany in the old Cathedral church of Holy Archangel Michael on 9 October 2021 (photo gallery).

Besides the primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the following participated in the rite of the proclamation: His Eminence Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral  and Their Graces Bishops: Lukijan of Buda, Pahomije of Vranje, Jovan of Sumadija, Fotije of Zvornik and Tuzla, Atanasije of Milesevo, Grigorije of Dusseldorf and Germany, Joakim of Polog-Kumanovo, Teodosije of Raska-Prizren, Gerasim of Gornji Karlovac, David of Krusevac, Isihije of Valjevo, Dimitrije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina, Jerotej of Toplica, Justin of Hvosno, Damaskin of Mohacs and Sava of Marca.

After accepting the will and decision of the Holy Assembly of Bishops before the present meeting of the Holy Church, which elected him Bishop of Hum, Vicar of the Bishop of Dusseldorf and Germany at this year's session, the proclaimed Bishop Jovan officiated the Vesper service.

Patriarch Porfirije: Let us overcome pride and vanity

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch  received members of the women's and men's Red Star Basketball Club with professional teams at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade, on October 5, 2021.

- I see sport as a spiritual discipline. Sport is a blessed competition in what everyone can do best of themselves, so even when we happen to lose, it should only be an invitation to even greater effort, to even greater endeavor, with the goal of being even better, to gain virtue. By virtue we recognize, we say it with the Gospel, our neighbors, those with whom we compete, who were more successful than us and whom we congratulate with love. Patriarch Porfirije: The cross is a symbol of the crucifixion, but at the same time a symbol of victory

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch officiated the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in the Monastery of the Presentation of the Most Holy Mother of God in Belgrade, on September 27, 2021, on the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

His Grace Bishop Jerotej of Toplica, the elected Bishop of Marca, Archimandrite Sava, with the clergy of the Archbishopric of Belgrade and Karlovac concelebrated to the Patriarch.

Bishop Metodije of Budimlje-Niksic enthroned

His Holiness Porfirije, Serbian Patriarch, officiated the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in the monastery of Djurdjevi Stupovi and on that occasion he introduces His Grace Metodije to the throne of Bishop of Budimlje-Niksic on 25 September 2021.

The Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church was concelebrated by His Beatitude Kyr Jovan, Archbishop of Ohrid and Metropolitan of Skopje; Their Eminences Metropolitans Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia, Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral, as well as Their Graces Bishops: Justin of Zica, Jovan of Sumadija, Atanasije of Milesevo, Grigorije of Dusseldorf and Germany, Marko of Bregalnica, Teodosije of Raska-Prizren, Maksim of Western America, David of Krusevac, Jovan of Slavonia, Kirilo of Buenos-Aires and South America, Dimitrije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina, Isihije of Valjevo, Metodije of Dioclea and elected of Budimlje-Niksic, Stefan of Remesiana and Justin of Hvosno.

At the end of the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy, the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije held a sermon, while the decision of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church on the election of Bishop Metodije as Bishop of the Diocese of Budimlje-Niksic was read by Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabar-Bosnia, a member of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church. His Holiness Porfirije,  Serbian Patriarch then introduced Bishop Metodije to the throne of the Bishops of Budimlje-Niksic.
