Patriarch Irinej visits Metropolitanate of Zagreb-Ljubljana
On the day of the celebration of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch visited, for the first time, as the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Metropolitanate of Zagreb-Ljubljana. After a nice welcome, His Holiness along with His Eminence Jovan of Zagreb-Ljubljana went to the Cathedral church of the Transfiguration of the Lord where the doxology was served.
Protopresbyter-staurophor Slobodan Lalic welcomed the Patriarch with words of welcome.
In his sermon the Patriarch thanked the host for the invitation to visit this magnificent church and the pious people who lived here and preserved the faith of their ancestors.
Metropolitan Jovan informed His Holiness with a condition and circumstances in which the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian people live and work on the territory of the Republic of Croatia.
On the second day of visit, His Holiness Patriarch Irinej, along with Bishops Fotije of Dalmatia and Gerasim of Gornji Karlovac consecrated recently bought and restored premises of the Diocesan head board and the Church court of our Diocese.
After the consecration the guests went to the monastery of St. Petka and a new building of the grammar school Kantakuzin K. Brankovic where solemn welcome was prepared by professors and pupils.
