In the mansion of St. Prohor Pčinjski Monastery, on June 9, 2011 the Scientific meeting entitled "800 YEARS OF SERBIAN MEDICINE" was opened, organized by the Section for history of medicine of the Serbian Medical Society, the oldest medical association in our country. The aim of this meeting was to encourage a creation of the Institute for the history of medicine.
On the behalf and with the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch, His Grace Vicar Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno served the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the church of St. Trinity at the representation of the Moscow Patriarchate in Belgrade.
His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch served today, on the occasion of the 143rd anniversary of the death of Prince Mihailo Obrenovic, the memorial service to one of the most significant Serbian leaders of the new century.
His Holiness Irinej Serbian Patriarch receieved today in the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade academician Sergey Novikov, one of the greatest mathematician of today and the winner of the Fields Medal in 1970.
In the Crna Reka monastery the feast day of St. King Jovan Vladimir was celebrated to whom the monastery chapel is devoted. The Divine Liturgy was served by His Grace Bishop Teodosije of Raska-Prizren with the priesthood of the Diocese. Also this years' Patron Saint's Day was a good opportunity for the faithful people from the area and other parts of Serbia to gather in Crna Reka. Following the Divine Liturgy Bishop Teodosije blessed and cut the slava cake with the abbot of the Crna Reka monastery protosyngellos Jovan.
