Today, 14 August 2026, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije, in a statement to the Information Service of the Serbian Orthodox Church, denied the allegations of certain media outlets concerning the establishment of a Diocese of Boka Kotorska:
 
“The story about the establishment of a Diocese of Boka Kotorska in Montenegro would be laughable were it not for the ill intent behind it, for a well-orchestrated malicious campaign which, by placing emphasis on this issue, seeks to create confusion, to cause turmoil, and to sow mistrust among Orthodox faithful.
 
We have never even thought, let alone spoken or held discussions about this matter, and certainly have not developed any strategy in this regard. Therefore, the establishment of a Diocese of Boka Kotorska in Montenegro is simply not an issue within our Church.”
