On 18 December 2025, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije, together with His Eminence Metropolitan of Bačka kyr Irinej, received at the Church of Saint Sava on Vračar His Eminence Metropolitan of Volokolamsk kyr Anthony, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, accompanied by a clerical delegation consisting of: Protopresbyter Nikolai Balashov, adviser to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia; Protopresbyter Igor Yakimchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations; and Priest Nikolai Vasin, Secretary to the Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations.
 
The interlocutors examined in detail the situation in the Orthodox world, with particular attention to the suffering of the autonomous Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and established further perspectives for the development of Russian–Serbian interchurch relations, as well as other issues of importance to the two sister Churches.
 
On this occasion, His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije held a telephone conversation with His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia kyr Kirill, stating that the love he feels toward the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church is identical to the love and respect that the Serbian people have for centuries cherished toward the Russian people and the Russian Orthodox Church. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill thanked the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church and emphasized the importance of the spiritual unity of the two Churches and peoples.
