Patriarch Porfirije received His Eminence Metropolitan kyr Andrei of Gori from Georgia
His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije, met on 16 December 2025 at the See of the Patriarchate in Belgrade with His Eminence Metropolitan kyr Andrei of Gori and Ateni of the Georgian Patriarchate.
At the beginning of the conversation, the guest conveyed fraternal greetings from His Holiness Patriarch of Tbilisi and All Georgia kyr Ilia. Metropolitan Andrei thanked the Patriarch for the warm reception, emphasizing that the two brotherly peoples share not only one faith but also a very similar history.
Patriarch Porfirije stressed the necessity of conciliarity and fraternal encounters, which should unite and strengthen all Orthodox Christians in Christ. – Only through communion and with Christ can we withstand all the adversities that are increasingly present in the contemporary world – Patriarch Porfirije said.
Concluding the fraternal meeting, the interlocutors underscored the importance of dialogue and mutual respect, as well as the need for Orthodox Christians, despite difficult circumstances, to persevere in the faith while always placing their hope in the Lord.
The meeting was also attended by Hieromonk Ilia, steward of the Monastery of Zion of Ateni, and Nun Gabriela, Hegumenia of the Monastery of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called.
