The Rector of the University of Banja Luka, Dr. Radoslav Gajanin, stated that for the first time in its fifty years of existence, the University had the opportunity to host the Serbian Patriarch, which represents a special honor. “I am proud of that fact, and on this occasion I would like, on behalf of the academic community of the University, to express my most heartfelt gratitude to the Patriarch for his visit,” said Dr. Gajanin before the beginning of the lecture.

He also thanked the Student Parliament and the Student Union of the University of Banja Luka, which made a significant contribution to the realization of Patriarch Porfirije’s visit as part of the “Student Days” event.

Patriarch Porfirije emphasized that education, with the University as its crown, represents both the present and the future of a nation and a state.

“It is here that knowledge and skills necessary for society and the state are acquired, but it is also a place where those who will shape the cultural and identity framework of the nation and the state are ethically and culturally formed,” the Patriarch pointed out.
