Patriarch Porfirije receives delegation of the Orthodox Church in America

His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije received today at the See of the Patriarchate in Belgrade a delegation of the Orthodox Church in America, consisting of His Grace Bishop of Fort Worth kyr Gerasim and Protopresbyter Alexander Margeritin, Secretary to His Beatitude Archbishop kyr Tikhon, the Primate of the OCA.
 
Having welcomed the esteemed guests, Patriarch Porfirije spoke about the importance of advancing the mission of the Orthodox Church in the world, particularly in the United States of America, emphasizing the significance of close cooperation between local jurisdictions. In response to the guests' interest, His Holiness discussed the importance and restoration of the Church of Saint Sava in New York, a matter which he personally takes care of. The guests informed Patriarch Porfirije about the structure, activities, and mission of the Orthodox Church in America, highlighting its openness to further strengthening ties with the Serbian Orthodox Church. Bishop Gerasim stressed that their three-day visit to the Serbian Orthodox Church was also aimed at directly affirming their desire to deepen interchurch cooperation. The interlocutors exchanged information on various problems and challenges facing the Orthodox world, underscoring the necessity of dialogue to resolve them. 

The meeting was attended by Protopresbyter Đorđe Stojisavljević, Chief of the Cabinet of the Serbian Patriarch, and Mr. Mladen Andrejić, an official of the Patriarch's Cabinet.
 
Prior to their reception by the Serbian Patriarch, the guests from America visited the Cathedral Church in Belgrade and the Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church, where they became acquainted with the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
