Patriarch Porfirije in Windsor: Bishop Christopher conveyed King Charles’ personal greeting

His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije, currently in London with members of his sacred entourage for the enthronement of His Grace kyr Nektarije as Bishop of Britain and Ireland tomorrow, visited the chapel of Saint George the Great Martyr in Windsor Castle today.

The Head of the Serbian Orthodox Church was welcomed by The Right Reverend Bishop Christopher Cocksworth, Dean of the Royal Chapel, who conveyed a personal greeting from His Majesty King Charles III. Patriarch Porfirije presented his host with an icon of Saint George the Great Martyr, while Bishop Christopher reciprocated with a monograph on the Holy Mother of God, authored by himself.

The Chapel of Saint George in Windsor is part of the college of the same name. Built in 1348 by order of King Edward III, it is considered a masterpiece of medieval English architecture. The chapel houses the third-largest stained glass window in England and is particularly significant as the burial place of numerous British monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth II.

Tomorrow, on 24 November 2024, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije will preside over the Holy Liturgy and the ceremonial rite of enthronement of His Grace Vicar Bishop of Jegar kyr Nektarije as the Bishop of London and of Britain and Ireland in the Cathedral church of Saint Sava in London.
