Patriarch Porfirije visited the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Buenos Aires

On 4 November 2023, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije visited the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Buenos Aires.

The Head of the Serbian Orthodox Church and his hierarchical entourage were cordially welcomed by Mr. Dejan Blagojević, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the capital of Argentina. Accompanying His Holiness Patriarch were Their Graces Bishops: Kirilo of Buenos Aires and South and Central America, Arsenije of Niš, Nikodim of Dalmatia, Metodije of Budimlje-Nikšić, as well as Stefan of Remesiana. Dr. Vladimir Roganović – Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities of the Republic of Serbia, also attended the reception.

Greeting address to Patriarch Porfirije was delivered by Mr. Blagojević, who emphasized his visit was of historical significance: – This is the first visit of the Serbian Patriarch to Argentina and Latin America. The significance of this visit is historical, for the Serbian Orthodox Church has for centuries been the foundation of the spiritual and cultural life of Serbians, and still plays a crucial role in preserving religious and national identity, and Serbian tradition.

His Holiness kyr Porfirije expressed gratitude to Mr. Blagojević for the warm reception and highlighted the significant role of the Embassy of Serbia in Argentina in fostering good relations between the two nations. The Patriarch conveyed the following message: – It is crucial that we help each other as brothers and as Christians. In these difficult times, we must understand that achieving peace requires us to think of others. If someone wants to achieve inner peace, they must care about the peace of their brother and neighbor. Only when one attains inner peace will their brother also reach peace.
