On 16 September 2022, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije received His Excellency Mr. Viktor Orban, Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary.
In a cordial and friendly conversation, Patriarch Porfirije congratulated Mr. Orban for receiving the high state decoration, the Order of the Republic of Serbia on a large necklace, with which he was presented today for the exceptional merits in developing and solidifying peaceful cooperation and friendly relations between Serbia and Hungary.
Patriarch Porfirije and Mr. Orban agreed that friendly and fraternal relations between the two peoples, Hungarians and Serbs, are of essential importance for their progress and development in cultural, social, religious and every other sense.
The Patriarch expressed deep gratitude for everything that the state of Hungary has done and proceeds to do for the wellbeing of the Diocese of Budim and the Serbian people.
The members of the Holy Synod of Bishops Their Graces Bishops Vasilije of Srem, Irinej of Bačka and Fotije of Zvornik-Tuzla, as well as Bishop of Marča kyr Sava, head of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch, attended the reception.
