Serbian Patriarch Porfirije had a conversation with the President of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate

On 10 November 2022, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije received His Eminence Metropolitan of Volokolamsk kyr Anthony, President of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.

The meeting was also attended by Their Graces Bishops Irinej of Bačka and Sava of Marča; Protopresbyter Nikolay Balashov, Advisor to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia; Protopresbyter Vitaly Tarasyev, Rector of the Metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church in Belgrade; Protopresbyter Igor Yakimchuk, acting Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate; Presbyter Alexander Ershov, Secretary to the President of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate; as well as the Executive Director of the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage E.I. Skopenko.

In a warm atmosphere of mutual understanding, a conversation was held about the situation in the Orthodox world, the state of relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Serbian Orthodox Church, the perspectives of their further development, as well as other topics of common interest.

Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and Metropolitan Antonije of Volokolamsk exchanged befitting gifts. At the end of the meeting, a festive dinner was held in the Patriarchal See in honor of the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church.

On the same day, His Eminence Metropolitan of Volokolamsk kyr Anthony, the President of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, visited the church of Saint Sava on Vračar, while being accompanied by His Grace Bishop of Remesiana kyr Stefan, Dean of the church, and Sava of Marča, Head of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch.

Other members of the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church also attended the tour of the church of Saint Sava on Vračar: Protopresbyter Nikolay Balashov, Advisor to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia; Protopresbyter Vitaly Tarasyev, Rector of the Metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church in Belgrade; Protopresbyter Igor Yakimchuk, acting Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate; Presbyter Alexander Ershov, Secretary to the President of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.

The guests venerated the relics of the church of Saint Sava on Vračar and acquainted themselves with its interior decoration, which was made in the period from 2016 to 2020 by a team of Russian mosaic masters led by academician N. A. Mukhin.

Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk and members of his entourage also visited the resting place of Serbian Patriarch Irinej (1930-2020), which is located in the crypt of the Saint Sava church.
