On 26 February 2023, on the Feast of Venerable Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher, His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije presided over the holy Liturgy in the New Belgrade church dedicated to this great ascetic, ruler, and unifier of the Serbian lands, defender of Orthodoxy, and God-bearing and holy Serbian progenitor. At the end of the liturgical gathering, Patriarch Porfirije gave a lesson to the faithful people at the beginning of Lent:

– The Holy Forty Days of Lent are commencing. I implore you to make an additional sacrifice during this Lent, to dedicate the entire Lent to Kosovo and Metohija and to pray more fervently during the Great Forty Days of Lent, in these dark and stormy times, for our brothers and sisters on Kosovo and Metohija, for our holy places on Kosovo and Metohija; to pray for our Kosovo and Metohija.
