The Patriarch did not sign the decision allowing reality shows to be aired 24 hours a day
Ms. Judita Popović, recently a former member of the REM (Regulatory Authority of Electronic Media) Council, stated on the 4th of July, in the program of Nova S Television, that His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije, as the President of the RBA (Republic Broadcasting Agency) Council in 2015, signed a non-binding recommendation that allowed reality shows to be aired 24 hours a day. The same television channel repeated this statement in other shows and on the internet, and the daily newspaper Danas published it online and in print.
His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije submitted his resignation as the President of the Republic Broadcasting Agency one year earlier, on 30 May 2014, after being elected by the Holy Synod of Bishops as the Metropolitan of Zagreb and Ljubljana. It is evident that Ms. Judita Popović’s claims are untrue. Hence, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije did not sign the decision or any other act allowing reality shows to be aired 24 hours a day.
