The President of the Republic of Serbia congratulated the Serbian Patriarch on the occasion of celebration of his patron Saint (Slava)
On the Feast of Saint John the Baptist, the President of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Aleksandar Vučić visited His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije and took part in the prayerful act of consecration of the Slava bread offering at the Patriarchal headquarters.
The President of Serbia congratulated the Slava to the Head of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and then informed him and the present Bishops that during the day he would have important and very serious meetings regarding Kosovo and Metohija.
The spiritual leader of the Orthodox Serbs and the present Hierarchs once again reiterated the well-known, clear and unequivocal position of the Serbian Church that Kosovo and Metohija are an integral and inalienable part of the Republic of Serbia, and that its preservation within the borders of the Republic of Serbia is a constitutional obligation and imperative for both the Church and our state.
In this sense, Patriarch Porfirije and the Hierarchs expressed their belief that the leadership of the Republic of Serbia headed by President Aleksandar Vučić will not and cannot agree to any kind of conditioning aimed at establishing the independence of Kosovo and Metohija.
The Serbian Orthodox Church will always support the leadership of the Republic of Serbia in efforts to preserve Kosovo and Metohija as an inalienable part of Serbia, as well as the coexistence in peace and mutual understanding in accordance with the international law, and with preservation of the rights of all citizens living in Kosovo and Metohija.
