Patriarch Porfirije had a conversation with the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia

His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije met on 23 October 2024, at the Patriarchal See in Belgrade with Mr. Mohamad Chandra Widya Yudha, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Serbia.

His Holiness the Patriarch expressed his gratitude to His Excellency for the visit, recalling that he had once participated in an interfaith conference organized by the Republic of Indonesia when he was the hegumen of the Kovilj Monastery. Together, they fondly remembered Patriarch Irinej, with whom the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia had established very fruitful cooperation. The Ambassador thanked His Holiness for taking the time for the meeting, during which he informed him about the planned Fifth Bilateral Interfaith Dialogue to be held in Belgrade from 11 to 14 November of this year. Namely, Indonesia has been conducting interfaith dialogues with over thirty countries for many years. The first bilateral dialogue between Serbia and Indonesia was held in 2011 in Belgrade and was deemed the best ever held with another country.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Malvino Mikels, the First Secretary of the Embassy and Head of the Media, Culture, and Social Affairs Department; Ms. Jelena Milenković, Associate in the Embassy's Media, Culture, and Social Affairs Department; Protopresbyter Đorđe Stojisavljević, Head of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch; and Ms. Olivera Jovanović, Editor-in-Chief of Orthodoxy.
