Patriarch Porfirije meets with the Head of the United Nations Office in Belgrade

His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije met on 22 April 2026, at the Patriarchal Palace in Belgrade with Ms. Dominika Krois, Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the United Nations Office in Belgrade.
 
The interlocutors exchanged views on the position of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as on other issues of importance for the preservation of peace and stability throughout the region. Patriarch Porfirije emphasized that the Church approaches these matters primarily from a spiritual and pastoral perspective, pointing to the importance of the survival of the Serbian people and their holy sites in their centuries-old historical homeland, as well as to the essential need to ensure dignified living conditions for all people.
 
His Holiness also underscored the importance of the presence of international institutions and their role in protecting the fundamental rights of the Serbian people, as well as of all other communities.
 
Ms. Krois noted that she is quite familiar with the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija and, being a Christian herself, understands the gravity of the position of the Serbian people, as well as the complexity of the situation there.
 
Thanking Ms. Krois for her visit, the Patriarch once again emphasized that the Serbian Orthodox Church, remaining faithful to its Gospel path, continually calls all people to overcome divisions and to live a life filled with mutual understanding, peace, and true brotherly love.
 
The meeting was attended by: Protopresbyter Đorđe Stojisavljević, Head of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch; Mr. Yevgeny Razdorozhniy, Political Affairs Adviser at the United Nations Office in Belgrade; and Mr. Boris Sekulić, an official of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch.
