On 31 March 2023, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije sent a congratulatory letter to Academician Zoran Knežević, the newly elected President of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, which, among other things, states:

– Esteemed Academician Knežević, on the occasion of Your election as the President of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts – the oldest and most important scientific and artistic institution in Serbia, we extend to You Our sincere congratulations. Wishing You successful and fruitful work in a very responsible and difficult position as the President of SASA, We pray to the Lord Christ to grant You and Your colleagues both spiritual and physical strength, as well as encouragement for the work entrusted to You for the benefit of our people.

At the Electoral Assembly of SASA held on 30 March 2023, Academician Zoran Knežević was elected President of SASA for the next four-year period (2023-2027), with Academicians Zoran V. Popović and Miodrag Marković elected as Vice-Presidents of SASA, while Academician Nebojša Lalić was elected Secretary General of SASA.
