On 24 January 2024, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije attended the ceremony in the Grand Hall of the Kolarac Endowment, marking the 120^th anniversary of the existence of Politika, the oldest daily newspaper in the Balkans.

On this occasion, His Holiness posted on his Instagram account: – During this calendar year, we celebrate two important jubilees of Serbian culture: of Serbian written and printed word. Side by side, I place 530 years of the Cetinje Octoechos, the oldest Serbian printed book, and the 120^th anniversary of Politika, the oldest and most influential daily newspaper in this part of Europe. Both jubilees testify to the continuity of our culture, our spiritual independence, modernity, readiness to adopt and implement new knowledge. Therefore, I am confident that today, as 530 or 120 years ago, we should accept and use contemporary achievements without feeling shame and excessive hesitation, while preserving the values of previous epochs as much as possible. On behalf of today and on behalf of future generations, who, like Cetinje printer Hieromonk Makarije of Hilandar, and the founder of Politika Vladislav Ribnikar, will contribute to the progress of our people using new knowledge and opportunities, I congratulate all employees and numerous readers on the significant anniversary of Politika.
