Many years to our Patriarch and father kyr Porfirije!
On 18 February, three years ago, the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, at its meeting in the Memorial Church of Saint Sava in Belgrade, elected Metropolitan of Zagreb-Ljubljana Dr. Porfirije, as the Serbian Patriarch.
Immediately after the election, the thanksgiving service was officiated and many years was proclaimed to Archbishop of Peć, Metropolitan of Belgrade-Karlovci, and Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije. The bells of the Saint Sava Temple on Vračar tolled a few minutes before 4 p.m., marking the election of the 46th Serbian Patriarch.
The festive enthronement ceremony of the newly elected Archbishop of Peć, Metropolitan of Belgrade-Karlovci, and Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije began on 19 February 2021, with the hierarchical Liturgy at the Cathedral Church of the Holy Archangels in Belgrade.
His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije – from the electoral Assembly, through the enthronement, divine services, canonical visits to the Dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church, meetings with important personalities from the country and the world, philanthropic activities, interviews, to archpastoral addresses – for the third consecutive year, writes the history of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
On the day marking three years of his Patriarchal service, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije served the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy at the Cathedral Church of Saint Sava in Manhattan. After the Liturgy, His Holiness held several working meetings dedicated to the continuation of the restoration of the Cathedral and the parish house in New York, which were damaged in the Easter fire of 2016.
