His Holiness Porfirije: Patriarch Pavle fulfilled every word of Christ's apostles and embraced every feat of Christ's Church.

Under the presidency of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije, a regular meeting of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church was held on 15 November 2024 at the Patriarchal Palace in Belgrade. The meeting began with a memorial service marking the fifteenth anniversary of the passing of Serbian Patriarch Pavle. On this occasion, His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije stated:

Blessed is the one whom You choose and receive, O Lord,
and his memory is from generation to generation! (Psalm 64:5)

– Today, at the beginning of the meeting, together with the members of the Holy Synod of Bishops, I prayed for the blessed repose of my predecessor and teacher, the unforgettable Serbian Patriarch Pavle, who, on this day fifteen years ago, embarked on the path that leads from death to life (1 John 3:14). Fully aligning his life with the words of the Lord recorded in the Gospel, he fulfilled every word of Christ's apostles and embraced every feat of the timeless experience of the living tradition of Christ's Church, thus leaving an indelible mark on the heart of every person who had the opportunity to meet him, hear his sermons, or read his thoughts. I am confident that Patriarch Pavle continues to pray for his people, and due to his humility and meekness – because he did not say one thing and do another – being a true witness of Christ's love, I deeply believe that the Lord hears and accepts his prayers for his people.

Memory eternal! May God receive him into the Kingdom of Heaven!
